Continuity
In my first Media Studies lesson we discussed continuity and the importance of it in our filming. Continuity is how the sequence of events and characters develop in a film. It's how smoothly the chain of events and development of characters runs in the film. We have to pay attention to continuity otherwise there are continuity errors, these are are mistakes in which things are in different positions, hair or make up is done differently or costume is changed between cuts that are next to each other in the sequence of events. Continuity errors compromises a films integrity and we could lose what would be potential marks if we make any during the preliminary or the actual task.
Continuity errors are when mistakes are made in the film, for example if something was thrown in one scene then is back sat on the shelf in the next scene this is a continuity error.
This is a clip of various Continuity Errors or 'Movie Mistakes'

Camera Techniques
Match On Action
Match on action is a camera technique in which the camera's point of view switches from one thing to another but focusing on the same subject. For example a person walking through a door, the person would be seen putting her hand on the door handle then switch to the other side of the door so the camera sees her coming through the door. These shots are used often in films and are a good way to trasition from one view to another. Below are some examples of match on action shots from different sources.
Shot Reverse Shot
Shot reverse shot is a camera technique often used when two characters in a TV series or a film are talking. It's essentially two shots repeated, one shot of person A talking then a shot of person B talking. This shot can be used repeatedly one after another in order to keep the audience concentrated and paying complete attention to the two characters talking.
These videos both show various examples and scenarios shot using match on action shots.
You can see from these photos that the camera switches from one person's face to the other person's face.
180 Degree Angle Shot
The 180 degree angle shot is the area in a room during filming. It means you can only shoot in and around in an 180 degree area.
As you can see from the photo the scene will take place in the circle shown, the red X marks the spot the scene cannot be filmed in.
The pink zig zag line represents along where the camera can film from.
This rule is used to avoid errors within films and TV shows. This makes it so the audience don't feel confused or dis orientated by any strange movement of cameras or character placement.
