My sixth analysed thriller opening is from the film 'Vertigo' directed by Alfred Hitchcock, 1958.

A serif font is used in the clip; this makes the text look smart and neat. This contrasts everything else featured in the clip. This makes the audience feel perplexed and question why the text and images in the shots are so different. It makes they feel confused and afraid because of the different natures of the two. We don't think this is something we're going to use in our clip, we think our text will match the atmosphere are other aspects of the shots.

The text is white, standing out against the black background. This makes the text visible but doesn't take the attention away from the shapes and colours on screen. This confuses the viewer and overwhelms them with the various elements featured in the shot.

All text on the screen is in different positions, all scattered around the edges of the screen. The only text placed in the center of the shot it's in is the title of the film and the director’s name. This exaggerates the importance of the two and makes sure the audience pays attention to them. We think this a technique we're going to use to draw attention to the name of the clip.
