Treatment

In todays lesson we dicussed putting together our treatment and came up with a list of things we need in it. This is my treatment for our thriller opening, below are picture of actors, locations, props and costumes we will use during the filming of our thriller opening.

Actors & Characters

Locations

Props & Costume

Titles & Credits

We chose our locations based on these things;

 1. Suitability of location

This is how suitable the location was for what we wanted to film. So when we decided on a car scene we knew we had to pick a location that it's likely a car would be in that the murderer could get to. Hence why we chose a driveway.

 2. Opportunities for filming

This is when we can film in the location. By choosing one of our own driveways it means we can use it at anytime because it belongs to us and we won't have to stop using it because it's somebody elses property.

 3. Size of location

This is obviously the size of the area we're filming in, we need a large enough area to comfortably film in. But not one that's too big so we can still ensure continuity by keeping check of everything going on around us when we film.

 4. Setting up time

This is how long it takes us to position props and move anything we need moved in order to film. Setting up time would have to be short if we're using public property or we're using someone elses property (with permission) Especially if we only have a certain amount of time to film in.

 5. Access to cast, crew and actors

Obviously all our cast, crew and actors will have to be able to get to the location with ease. In case of emergencies where we have to film anything again or film anything we missed.

We chose our actors based on some of the same things as we chose our locations with.

Their suitability for their role, when they're available for filming and ease of access to get to our filming locations. However we also wanted to get a range of ages within our opening so we can appeal to a larger audience and include a wider range of ages for audience satisfaction. Because our audience is predominantely female (as shown from our audience research) we chose to use a dominantly female cast. This is also partly due to the lack of males who agreed to be in the film, they appear to be less willing to play a character onscreen.

This is one of the few locations we decided against using. We decided not to use this location because we wanted our murderer to walk past the window and we couldn't do that with this location because it was upstairs.

We also decided against using the walks in Lynn for our park scene because it would be extremely hard to find a time in which it was empty enough to film and also due to the lack of control we'd have over things that could cause continuity errors.

This is a mind map of ideas we did when we dicussed props, costumes and make up.

This mind map contains the final items we plan to use in our opening. We chose these things because they fit into the thriller genre and they're relevant and practical for what we plan to do in our opening.
