Selecting an Artist
During todays lesson my group and I discussed what kind of genre and artist we'd like to create a music video for. We decided that a local unsigned artist would be best to avoid copyright issues however we also decided to contact a few famous music artists just in case we get lucky and one of them replies (they didn't). After weighing the positives and negatives of each artist we think we have selected one that will work for us as a group and the artist.

Initial Ideas; Artist 1: Lucy Spraggan
Lucy Spraggan is a female artist, she classes her music as 'A-Flop' her own mix of acoustic, folk and hip hop. The general genre(s) we looked at during our artist research was acoustic rock and singer-song writers, since she fell into this mix and we as a group liked her music she was a potential candidate. She was originally a contestant on X-Factor however dropped out due to illness, due to her time in the limelight we had a small chance of her replying to give us permission to use her song for our A2 coursework. This is the message we sent her, unfortunately we gained no reply from her and are unable to use her as an artist.

Initial Ideas; Artist 2: Flint Moore
Flint Moore is a local band mainly performing acoustic rock as a genre. The band consists of five members and has several albums out. We decided they would be a last option for us as students have done the band before and we wanted to use an artist who has not been used for media coursework at this sixth form.
Initial Ideas; Artist 3: George Ezra
George Ezra is a singer-songwriter who mainly plays folk rock, he's a signed famous artist and for this reason we didn't think he'd be very likely to answer any messages we sent him. Regardless of this we did send him a hopeful message. No reply.

Initial Ideas; Artist 4: Connor Ryan Adams
Connor Ryan Adams is a singer-songwriter performing acoustic rock, he's relatively local. He was our first choice for an artist and we focused a lot on contacting him to create our music video with one of his tracks and using his image in our digipak and magazine advert.
We initially contacted him through a music event at the high school and communicated with him after this through several mediums including twitter and facebook.
Unfortunately despite our best attempts his schedule was too full in the new year to come down and film a music video with us.

Initial Ideas; Artist 5: Dion Gunn
Dion Gunn is a local singer-songwriter and a friend of one of our group members, she has an EP on soundcloud and is of the genre we wished to get an artist of. After narrowing down our choices and our original first choice being unable to do this project with us she was contacted and agreed to let us use her, her music and her image in our coursework. She is our chosen artist and will be the subject of our music video, digipak and magazine advert.
