The use of technology in my work was obviously very important, during my coursework I used various technologies in each stage of my work. During my research and planning I used new technologies primarily for displaying my research. 'PowToon' was a site one of my group members found earlier in the year, it's a site for making animated presentations, I used this to do one of my music video analysations and also to collate my editing findigns in a way that would present the techniques as I collated my data. This helped me use more media based ways to present my work and helped me work creatively and more concisely because there was a limit of time spent on each slide and I believe restriction calls for creativity.

        Another technology I used in my research and planning was freeonlinesurvey.com, I used this website to construct the audience research/feedback surveys, using online surveys allowed us to gain responses froma wider range of people in terms of age and also those who don't live around where we usually hand out questionnaires or do interviews. I also used the website to be able to create a wider rage of question types and to help us collect different kinds of data, it was also helpful in that it made tables and graphs of our results for us which helped us to analyse the data once we had collected it.

        When we began our coursework we knew we wanted to use an unsigned artist opposed to a signed, famous artist, we didn't know many local artists however, SoundCloud helped provided a medium for us to listen to potential artists and also to listen to our chosen song where we worked. I used SoundCloud as a medium for listening to the chosen track when I needed to so I could better visualise the video, this was particularly useful in the creation of our storyboards as we had to estimate the shot times very efficiently.

 

I also used technology in the other stages of my work, in the production stage of my work I used new technology in the form of a camera. Jemma's camera was more advanced than my own and bought for photography purposes, during our photoshoot for the ancillary tasks I used this camera to take photos. I had to get to grips with this equipment quickly as we were using a public location and had the risk of people walking around and interrupting us, we used this technology to put the photos in shallow focus so the background wouldn't be as distinct against the image, which made the text easier to read. We also used this camera to alter the lighting when we were taking photos and the lighting wasn't sufficient and we didn't have a lot of room to set up lighting when taking photos for the magazine advert.

        During this year we used phot editing equipment for the creation of our ancillary tasks, we used both Coreldraw and Photoshop to edit our images, we used these to add text, change lighting and alter the colouration of objects. We used these programmes to helps create new meanings and create syngery throughout our products, in conjunction SonyVegasPro (our editing software for the music video) we created three professional, detailed and conventional products.

 

During the evaluation stage of my work I used a new website for presentations called 'Prezi.com', this website allowed me to present my ideas in a smart, professional way. I used it to break up large amounts of text to make it easier to read and to show my sufficiency in using various media technologies, I also used it so I had a range of presentational methods in my research and planning.
