The Drums
The Drums are an indie pop band from America. The band currently consists of three members and has three albums.

This magazine advert is much more simplistic in terms of design and content compared to the other magazine adverts which had a much wider range of information and graphics.
The bands name is at the top of the page with the clarification that it's the name of their album too underneath, after which there's six four star ratings from well-known publishers and at the bottom of the page there's the band website.
The lack of detailed information creates a mystery about the kind of music the band makes. Since there's no singles mentioned we can assume it's not well-known music however the ratings suggest it's good music to listen to. The lack of information creates intrigue about the album and the band and encourages people to go listen to the music to satiate their curiosity.
This is unconventional in terms of content and all of the previous adverts contained more information about the actual album than this one.
The text is sans serif, in capitals with the band name/album announcement in bold and the review sources not in bold. The text is in white and is quite large taking up a quarter of the page just with the bands name, this creates a clear focus and draws in the eyes of audiences, it's hard to miss and makes it clear what the adverts about. The use of a large bolded text creates the idea that the band is simplistic in what they do which is reinforced by the lack of detail of the information provided for those looking at the advert.
The image used for the advert is of the bottom of a curtain, presumably this is the curtains on a stage referencing the performance aspect of the music industry, it also hints at the performance side without explicitly showing the band performing. This again retains a mystery about the band creating more curiosity in the audience looking at the advert. The curtain is dark blue and faded to a greeny colour at the bottom, this suggests it's an old curtain that's been used lots and is starting to wear from being dragged across the floor, this could be used to represent the band as being experienced in their craft and suggests a nostalgic effect seen in many of the previous magazine adverts.
The use of reviews on the advert is also seen on other adverts however not seen on all of them, the inclusion of them increases audience interest by legitimising the quality of the album as popular sources have reviewed the music positively. The use of multiple sources reinforces the quality of the album as it means multiple, separate sources have categorised it as four out of five stars. This is special since not all albums are going to be rated by several popular sources and creates a speciality for the album because of the lack of four stars on every album that's produced. This will increase demand for the album which will lead to more popularity for the band. And conventionally the band have included their website at the bottom of the page widening their reach for audience and availability to their current and growing fanbase.
